3 Quick and Easy Summer Makeup Looks

Summer is here and it’s time to switch up our makeup routine. Gone are those gloomy winter days where a deep purple lip and smoky eye matched the weather perfectly. Summer is all about having fun isn’t it? Make the most of the season with easy summer makeup looks that aren’t super complicated, because we don’t want to waste an hour of these sunny days inside putting on makeup when we could be out enjoying it.

With these 3 looks, you’ll be able to make the most out of your tanning time while still looking fabulous for those blue-sky Instagram shots!

Summer makeup look 1. Do The Dew

We’re no rookies when it comes to a dewy face. Honestly, matte is so autumn and we’re all about looking glowy and glam this summer.

This look can be kind of daunting as there’s a fine line between a dewy beach babe and a shiny faced disaster, but it’s so much easier than you’d think to achieve that luscious, dewy look. Especially in summer when everyone is going to end the day with a sweaty, melted face you’re going to be ahead of the game with a perfect dewy look that can stay put for hours.

For ultimate dew, the key is to prime your face with something matte and long-wearing, and then use a super light foundation – or bb cream, mixed in with a drop or two of your favourite liquid illuminator to create a dewy base that isn’t going to budge. From there, a cute peach blush and a light touch of bronzer can help achieve some dimension. Don’t go too overboard on the highlighting powder (we know, it’s super hard not to!), but just a light touch on the height of your cheekbones can work magic for this look.

Look 2. Bare Faced and Beach Ready

Don’t worry, we’re not actually suggesting you go makeup-free (although, all power to you if you do). Instead we do know a little secret to looking like you’re not wearing makeup, when in reality you’re still as beat as ever.

With this one, it’s all in the foundation choice and eyebrow game. Pick a foundation that has a low to medium coverage. A good BB cream can work, or we’d recommend the Maybelline Fit Me foundation. It has a good coverage to hide the flaws but it doesn’t leave you looking caked in makeup. Perfect for this look! Add a light application of powder to set. Then the smallest touch of blush or bronze to bring back a bit of colour. That is all the base you need!

A great tip for this one – instead of doing a full eye look, just cover your eyelids in foundation. Then dip your fluffiest eyeshadow brush in your bronzer and just lightly contour the crease of your eye. This will create some dimension.

For brows, all you need is a few flicks of your favourite brow product to fill in the gaps – keep it as natural looking as possible, and finish with a swoop of brow gel and a few decent squirts of setting spray to set yourself up for the day.

Look 3. Bronzed Goddess

‘Tis the season to be tanned and gorgeous. We’re keeping that SPF on our face all season long, but that’s no reason why our face shouldn’t be just as bronzed up as the rest of us. After all, a true goddess has a face that matches her neck flawlessly.

A tinted moisturiser/BB Cream is the perfect product to kick off this look. It’s important to make sure you’re colour matched for the warmer season. Your best friend for this look is a contour palette of course. You want to start by bronzing up the cheeks with a medium shade of bronzer and a big fluffy brush. Then create some definition in the cheekbones with the lightest shade of bronzer in the palette.

Make sure you don’t forget to bronze around your hairline and your jawline to create ultimate facial definition. You can then use that same contour palette on your eyes. Using a blending brush to work the medium shade into the crease of your eyelid, and sweep a light brown across your lid.

Create some goddess glow with a shimmery bronzer. Our fav is the L’Oréal Paris Glam La Terra Bronzer – it’s super shimmery and golden. Sweep it across your cheeks and eyelids for an overall shimmer. Finish this look off with lots of your favourite mascara and a glossy lip.
